The next Annikki Poetry Festival will take place on 5–6 June 2020. The theme and performers will be announced in March. The festival will offer surprising and topical programme as well as many new things – stay tuned! Once again, there will be prominent Finnish and international performers, prose breaks, debutant[e] poets, visual arts and high-quality programme for children and young people. For the first time, the poetry festival will extend to two days!

In 2003, the residents of Annikki Wooden Quarter in Tampere founded a poetry event in their yard. Since then, Annikki Poetry Festival has developed into one of Finland’s most significant poetry events and original cultural festivals. It has also spawned Annikki OFF, a three-day series of events around the city. Annikki Poetry Festival is organised by volunteers every two years.

A documentary has bee made on the Annikki Poetry Festival. Titled Poetry’s Coming Home and directed by Aimo Hyvärinen, the documentary was premiered in January 2019. Over more than an hour, the documentary tells the tale of how a small courtyard event organised by volunteer residents grows into a highly valued, international cultural festival. Poetry's Coming Home had its U.S. Premiere at the FinnFest 2019 in Detroit on September 2019. Watch the trailer!
