Annikki Open Mic

This year, the Annikki Poetry Festival programme will feature open mic poetry for the first time. Annikki Open Mic will run as an independent part of the programme in the basement club during the festival. There will be two 1-hour sessions: from 11:30 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

Annikki Open Mic will be hosted by Venla Moisala, an award-winning poetry performer and experienced organiser of poetry events. Helsinki Poetry Connection’s Lavaruno-TV will record the performances in the basement clib and later broadcast them in its Annikki special.

The maximum length of each poetry performance is five minutes, meaning that there will be time for about 10 poets in each one-hour session. Eight open mic performers who register in advance will be accepted for each session, and the rest will be called up on the spot.

Since the theme of the poetry festival is "Personal", we would like people to perform poetry based on personal experiences. To keep things flowing without interruptions, background music cannot be used for the poetry performances. Unfortunately, the Open Mic basement is not an accessible space.

Registration

Advance registration for Annikki Open Mic is closed, but it is also possible to register on the spot. The first part, starting at 11.30am, will be longer, so there will be a much larger number of direct registrations from the audience.
